MONSTER SEAL - USE INFORMATION


MONSTER SEAL is used to prevent and repair flat tires.  For passenger vehicles - to ensure safety have the punctured tire inspected by a tire professional. 

Monster Seal is not designed to seal sidewall punctures. The tire sidewall construction begins at the outer row of tread, therefore the sealant may not seal punctures in the outer tread row.  The sealant should not be used with faulty valve cores or faulty stems, or with damaged wheels.  Eye protection is recommended during installation, as any air pressure in the tire may blow the sealant out of the valve stem after the hose is removed from the valve stem.

TPMS: Your vehicle may be equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a system which alerts drivers of an under-inflated tire.  Monster Seal TPMS Safe formula is compatible with and installs through most TPMS devices.  If a TPMS device displays a false reading, the device is easily rinsed and re-calibrated by a tire service professional.

Monster Seal can be used in passenger vehicles traveling at higher speeds when installed by a trained and authorized dealer.  The tires are correctly balanced prior to installing the sealant.  Fewer ounces of sealant is used to help prevent a vibration at higher speeds.  The lessor amount of Monster Seal can be used as preventative maintenance; to help prevent flats and to help maintain tire air pressure, which may increase tire life and fuel economy. 

Please review the high speed tire application chart below to determine the number of ounces of Monster Seal should be used for preventative maintenance. Please use the TMPS safe formula in vehicles with tire pressure sensors - model years 2007 and newer.

Example: Car tires: 13”- 6oz,  14”- 6oz,  15”- 7oz,  16”- 7oz  per tire.
Not suggested for use as a preventative sealant in low profile car tires.
SUV - Light Truck tires: 16” - 7oz,   17” - 7oz,   18” - 8oz,  19” and  20” - 9oz per tire

Five (5) Gallon Pail Installation Process - 3 Easy Steps

1. Remove valve core from valve stem and reduce air pressure to 45 psi.

2. Connect the pump hose to the valve stem and inject the Monster Seal.

3. Replace valve core and inflate tire to recommended pressure.

into Bicycles with PRESTA VALVES:

Tools Needed:  Needle nose pliers and 1/16” inch finishing small nail or very stiff wire.

  1. 1. Snip (cut) off the tip of the cone shaped nozzle at the line. 

  2. 2. Remove the bike tube from the tire and deflate.

  3. 3. Use needle nose pliers to remove brass nut from the valve core.

  4. 4. Use 1/16” finish nail or wire to push core into the tube. Hold the core with thumb and finger inside the tube.

  5. 5. Push bottle nozzle over the valve stem until snug, using light pressure, while remaining to hold on to the valve core inside the tube, squeeze 4 ounces (half of the small 8oz bottle) of sealant into the tube.

  6. 6. Push core back into the valve stem pointing downward and shake lightly until core comes out of the valve stem.

  7. 7. Hold the valve core with needle nose pliers and attach the brass nut onto the valve core. The first few turns of the nut will be snug or tight.

  8. 8. Inflate the tire to the recommended air pressure.

  9. 9. Inspect tire regularly for puncturing objects. Remove any puncturing objects and ride the bike a short distance to form a seal.

  10. 10.  If the tire deflates, remove any additional puncturing objects, inflate the tire and ride a short distance to form a seal. Repeat if needed.

Ounces needed per tube-type bike tire: 4 ounces / 118.5 ml

Monster Seal can also be used as preventative maintenance in light trucks and SUV tires traveling
at higher speeds.  All higher speed tires must be correctly balanced prior to installation of the sealant.  Please use the tire application amounts in the chart below for higher speed, over the road tires.  If your tire size is not listed, please use the formula below to determine the ounces of sealant to install in your tire.

Monster Seal is Tire Sensor Safe

Installing the sealant into a tire
with a Tire Sensor device

The Monster Seal TPMS formula is tire sensor safe.  Monster Seal is compatible with most TPMS devices, and will not have any adverse affects on the proper operation of most TPMS devices. 

The Monster Seal TPMS formula should not clog a TPMS device valve stem, and should not damage a tire sensor device.  We have tested Monster Seal TPMS formula tire sealant in numerous devices, and confirmed the sealant may be injected through the valve stem openings of most tire sensors.  Squeeze bottle slowly, and if valve stem clogs, clear with a shot of air, and or insert a wet cotton swab into valve stem to dilute and help clear any clogs.

INSTALLING SEALANT TO FIX A FLAT TIRE:

Please use 16 ounces for a car or trailer tire. Use 20 ounces for an SUV - Pickup truck tire.  Please use 32 ounces for a larger RV tires and 35”, 37”, 39” and 40” tires.

INSTALLING AS A PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE SEALANT:

Please select the correct tire size and amount to use from the above chart, or use the tire calculation method above for how much to use.  Tire Height X Width ÷ 30 = ounces per tire.  All high speed passenger tires must be properly balanced prior to installing tire sealant.  Sealant should be installed by an authorized dealer, who can be properly balanced prior to installing Monster Seal.

INSTALLATION FROM A SQUEEZE BOTTLE OR ONE GALLON JUG:

Remove the tire valve core from inside the valve stem and fully deflate the tire before injecting the sealant from a bottle, or from a one gallon jug.  A valve core tool and filling hose are located under the bottle cap, included with the One gallon Monster Seal jug.

Place the clear hose over the bottle spout, or the end of the gallon one once pump, then over the tire valve stem and slowly inject the correct amount of sealant.  The inside diameter size (opening size) of some TPMS valve stems are very small, and may restrict the flow of the sealant.  To help prevent the valve stem from clogging, please squeeze the bottle, or pump slowly to allow the sealant to pass through the valve stem. If the valve stem clogs, see instructions below for clearing a clog, or simply clear clog with a shot or air.  Replace the valve core and inflate the tire to the recommended pressure.

INSTALLATION USING A FIVE (5) GALLON HAND PUMP:

When using the 5-gallon hand pump to install the sealant, there is no need to deflate the tire, as the pump will overcome up to 50 psi tire pressure.  Remove the valve core, and connect the end of the pump hose to the valve stem and slowly inject the sealant.  Please pump slowly to allow the sealant to flow through the TPMS valve openings.  If you pump too quickly, the sealant may clog the small openings in the valve stem.  If the valve stem clogs, simply remove the hose and allow the air pressure in the tire to free the clog.  Then connect again, and pump slowly.  If the valve clogs again, remove the hose and allow the air pressure to free the clog.  At this time you may decide to install the sealant through the bead area (space between the tire and rim).  Finish by replacing the valve core and inflating the tire to the recommended pressure.

UNCLOGGING A TIRE SENSOR VALVE STEM:

If the sealant clogs in the tire sensor valve stem, a short burst of air from the air hose will clear the clog.  If a couple shots of air does not clear the clog, then insert a wet cotton swab into the valve to help dilute and clear the sealant.  Adding a little water onto the swab will help dilute the sealant and clear the stem.  After cleaning with a wet cotton swab, use an air hose to blow a few shots of air through the tire valve stem.  If the TPMS device remains clogged, repeat the above steps.  If this does not clear the clog, you may need to have a professional remove the TPMS device from the wheel, and rinse it with water to clear the clog.  The device can be inspected, re-calibrated and installed back onto the wheel.

Do not to try to inject the sealant through a valve stem which has previously clogged, unless you are able to clear the clog with shots of air.  At this time, the sealant should be injected through the bead area (the opening between the tire and wheel) by a professional.  SEE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW.

AFTER THE MONSTER SEAL IS INSTALLED:

After driving a few miles, the sealant will spread across the tread area and be in place to help prevent flats due to tread area punctures.  If the tire contains a puncturing object, try to remove the object, then drive the vehicle two miles to allow the Monster Seal spread across the tread and work into the wound and seal the puncture.  Please stay near an air source just incase the tire starts to deflate.  If the tire loses pressure, re-inflate and drive further.  Driving the vehicle allows the tread puncture to flex and force the Monster Seal into the puncture to form a seal.

IF SLIGHT TIRE VIBRATIONS OCCURS AT HIGHER SPEEDS:

After installing the correct amount of sealant into a properly balanced tire, the tire should remain in balance.  There may be a slight vibration for a few miles at certain highway speeds.  Please remember, the sealant may be still spreading inside the tire, and the slight vibration may stop, or dissipate after driving additional miles over a few days.  If the vibration continues at high speeds, the tire may not have been correctly balanced prior to installation, or too much sealant may have been installed.  In either case, you may elect to have the tire cleaned and balanced, and reinstall the sealant at that time.

IF THE TPMS WARNING LIGHT TURNS ON AFTER THE INSTALLATION:

If the tire sensor light on the dash turns on, the sensor may be malfunctioning or may be faulty and need to be inspected, re-calibrated, or replaced if faulty.  It’s also possible the sealant may have temporarily caused a false reading, or system error.  If this false reading continues to stay on for a day or two, the device may be cleaned, inspected and re-calibrated by a professional.  Please return the dealer who installed the sealant and have have the sensor checked.  Also remember, the light may be signaling low pressure in another tire, so check the air pressure in all of the tires.  Please contact the installing dealer, or Monster Seal with any questions regarding to tire sensors.  Email: sales@monsterseal.com or Tel: 1-888-556-8881

INSTALLING TIRE SEALANT INTO A TIRE
WITH A COMPATIBLE TPMS VALVE STEM


DEALERS:  When installing a tire sealant into a tire which contains a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) device, and you are certain the sealant will flow through the tire sensor valve stem, please follow these instructions.

All high speed passenger tires must be properly balanced prior to installing tire sealant.

INSTALLING THROUGH THE TIRE VALVE STEM

  1. 1.  Mount, inflate and balance the tire, just as you normally would.  All high speed passenger vehicle tires must be properly balanced prior to installing Monster Seal when used as a preventative maintenance sealant.

  2. 2.  Remove the wheel from the balancing machine.

  3. 3.  Remove the tire valve core.  No deed to deflate the tire.

  4. 4.  When using a 5-Gallon hand pump:  attach the end of the pump hose to the valve stem.  The hand pump will overcome up to 45 psi tire pressure, so there in no need to fully deflate the tire.  Pump slowly to help prevent the valve stem from being clogged. If the sealant clogs the valve stem, see instructions above to clear the clog.

4b.  When using a retail bottle:  remove the valve core and fully deflate the tire.  Attach the filling hose to the bottle spout and to the valve stem.  Squeeze the bottle slowly to inject the sealant. If the valve stem clogs, clear with a shot of air from air hose.

Do not dismount the tire from the wheel.  Please keep the tire in the same position on the wheel.  This will help ensure the tire balance will not be affected.

  1. 5.  Inject the proper amount of Monster Seal into the tire and remove the filling hose. Use slow pump strokes, or squeeze the bottle slowly.  This will help the sealant pass through the TPMS device.  See the tire chart for the correct amount per tire, or use the high speed application formula: Tire height X width ÷ 30 = ounces per tire. Always round down to the nearest ounce.  Example: 8.5oz - round down to 8oz.

If the sealant clogs a tire valve stem during the installation, clear the clog with a shot of air from the air hose.  If this does not work, insert a wet cotton swab and water into the valve stem to help clear the clog.  Then use a shot of air to free the clog.  If this does not work, please remove the device and rinse with water, then reinstall the device.  Do not try to inject the sealant through this same device, as it may clog again.

  1. 6.  Inflate the tire to the MFG suggested tire pressure noted on tire sidewall.

  2. 7.  Place the tire and wheel onto the vehicle, and you are good to go.

The tire and wheel should remain in balance, and the sealant will now be in place to help prevent flats due to tread area punctures.  There may be a slight vibration at speed until the sealant fully spreads and coats the tread area.  It may take a few miles of driving to spread the sealant inside the tire.

If the vibration continues, the tire may not have been properly balanced, or too much sealant may have been installed.  At this time, the tire will need to be dismounted, cleaned, re-balanced, and the sealant reinstalled.

INSTALLING TIRE SEALANT INTO A TIRE WITH A
NON-COMPATIBLE TPMS VALVE STEM

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INJECTING BETWEEN TIRE AND
WHEEL (THE BEAD AREA)


DEALERS:  When installing a tire sealant into a tire which contains a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) device, and you are certain the sealant will NOT flow through the tire valve stem, please follow these instructions.

All high speed passenger tires must be properly balanced prior to installing tire sealant.

  1. 1.  Mount, inflate and balance the new tire, just as you normally would.  All high speed passenger tires must be properly balanced prior to Monster Seal treatment when used as a preventative maintenance sealant.

  2. 2.  Deflate the tire and break open the bead (area where tire and wheel connect) to create a small opening between the edge of the tire and the wheel, so the filling hose an be inserted through the bead area (between the tire and wheel). 

** Do not dismount the tire from the wheel.  Please keep the tire in the same position on the wheel (do not rotate the tire on the wheel).  This will help ensure the tire will remain balanced.

  1. 3.  Inject the proper quantity of Monster Seal into the tire and remove the filling hose.  See the tire chart for the correct amount per tire, or use the high speed application formula.  (Tire Height X Tire Width ÷ 30 = ounces per tire.) 

  2. 4. Inflate the tire to the suggested tire pressure noted on tire sidewall.

  3. 5.  Place the new tire and wheel onto the vehicle, and you are good to go.

The tire and wheel should remain in balance, and the sealant will now be in place to help prevent flats due to tread area punctures.  There may be a slight vibration shortly after the installation.  The vehicle may need to be driven a few miles so the sealant can properly disperse and spread inside the tire.  Once the sealant spreads inside the tire, there should not be a vibration. 

If a slight vibration continues at certain speeds after a few days, the tire may have not been properly balanced, or too much sealant was installed.  If the vibration continues, please return to the dealer who installed the sealant, and have the sealant removed, the tires properly balanced and the sealant re-installed.

Monster Seal can also be used as a preventative maintenance sealant on light trucks and SUV tires traveling at highway speeds when installed by a trained and authorized dealer.  All passenger vehicle tires must be correctly balanced prior to installation.  The tire application formula in the chart below is used to determine how much sealant should be installed into passenger vehicle tires.  Use the TPMS Safe formula when installing into 2007 and newer vehicles with a TPMS device (Tire Pressure Sensor devices) to help prevent the sealant from clogging in the valve stem.
